Domestic enterprises are increasingly facing pressure from government regulations, international carbon taxes, and supply chain requirements. To maintain a competitive edge, companies must actively manage and reduce carbon emissions to comply with regulations. The government's mandatory compliance notification regulations incorporate ESG responsibilities into the balance sheet, encouraging companies to engage more actively in emission reduction efforts. One key strategy to achieve emission reduction goals is to enhance supply chain transparency through Scope 3 data transmission.

A transparent supply chain helps companies understand the sources of carbon emissions, develop emission reduction plans, and improve supply chain management to achieve comprehensive carbon neutrality. The industrial supply chain is complex and globalized, spanning upstream, midstream, and downstream sectors. Upstream suppliers face challenges such as talent shortages and insufficient verification agencies during carbon inventory, while downstream suppliers find it difficult to collect carbon emission data. The government has introduced energy-saving and carbon reduction technology guidance and subsidies for replacing carbon reduction equipment, promoting a large-to-small approach to include suppliers in the emission reduction efforts.

Although the government requires central plants to demand first-tier suppliers to input carbon emission data on self-built platforms, this requirement is limited to first-tier suppliers, leaving second and third-tier upstream suppliers unable to benefit. Therefore, the Institute for Information Industry has proposed a carbon data exchange platform focused on data transparency to help SMEs accelerate the transition to net-zero carbon emissions. By concurrently pursuing green and digital strategies, this platform assists companies in achieving carbon neutrality goals. Transparent supply chains are crucial for the sustainable development of enterprises, and digital tools help create transparent carbon emission data, supporting companies in moving towards sustainable development.
